ABSTRACT

It is usually hard for unfamiliar partners to rapidly 'break the ice' in the early stage of relationship establishment, which hinders the development of relationship and even affects the team productivity. To solve this problem, we proposed a collaborative serious game for icebreaking by combining immersive virtual reality (VR) with brain-computer interface based on the team flow framework. We designed a multiplayer collaboration task with the theme of fighting COVID-19 and proposed an approach to improve empathy between team members by sharing their real-time mental state in VR;in addition, we propose an EEG-based method for dynamic evaluation and enhancement of group flow experience to achieve better team collaboration. Then, we developed a prototype system and performed a user study. Results show that our method has good ease of use and can significantly reduce the psychological distance among team members. Especially for unfamiliar partners, both functions of mental state sharing and group flow regulation enhancement can significantly reduce the psychological distance. © 2023 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

At present, due to the COVID-19, China's social and economic development has slowed down. Some life service e-commerce platforms have successively launched "contactless delivery" services, which can effectively curb the spread of the epidemic. Robot distribution is the current mainstream, but robots are different from people and need to have accurate program settings. Both path planning and obstacle avoidance are currently top issues. This requires the mobile robot to successfully arrive at the destination while minimizing the impact on the surrounding environment and pedestrians, and avoiding encroachment on the movement space of pedestrians. Therefore, the mobile robot needs to be able to actively avoid moving pedestrians in a dynamic environment, in addition to avoiding static obstacles, and safely and efficiently integrate into the pedestrian movement environment. In this paper, the path planning problem of unmanned delivery robot is studied, and the path of mobile robot in the crowd is determined by global planning and local planning, and the matlab simulation is used for verification. © The Authors. ABSTRACT

Health is the centre of human enlightenment. Due to the recent Covid outbreak and several environmental pollutions, checking one's vitals regularly has become a necessity. Ours is an IoT-based device that measures a user's heart rate, blood oxygen level and body temperature. The device is compact and portable, making it easy for users to wear. The readings are measured and shown on an OLED display with the help of sensors. The data is also available on the cloud. A webpage and a mobile application were developed to view the data from the cloud. Individual graphs of the vitals with time are available on the mobile application. This can be used for progress measurement and statistical analyses. Authorized personnel can access the patient's vitals. This creates a scope for Tele-medication in rural and underdeveloped regions. Besides, one can also view his/her vitals for personal health routine. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Mobile application developers rely largely on user reviews for identifying issues in mobile applications and meeting the users' expectations. User reviews are unstructured, unorganized and very informal. Identifying and classifying issues by extracting required information from reviews is difficult due to a large number of reviews. To automate the process of classifying reviews many researchers have adopted machine learning approaches. Keeping in view, the rising demand for educational applications, especially during COVID-19, this research aims to automate Android application education reviews' classification and sentiment analysis using natural language processing and machine learning techniques. A baseline corpus comprising 13,000 records has been built by collecting reviews of more than 20 educational applications. The reviews were then manually labelled with respect to sentiment and issue types mentioned in each review. User reviews are classified into eight categories and various machine learning algorithms are applied to classify users' sentiments and issues of applications. The results demonstrate that our proposed framework achieved an accuracy of 97% for sentiment identification and an accuracy of 94% in classifying the most significant issues. Moreover, the interpretability of the model is verified by using the explainable artificial intelligence technique of local interpretable model-agnostic explanations. ABSTRACT

Purpose: to analyze the ability of the National Health Insurance mobile service quality to build BPJS brand image and public trust to increase intention to use online services during the Covid period. The background of this research is based on the phenomenon in the form of complaints on the quality of online services and research gaps on the effect of service quality on the intention to use online services. Brand image and trust are offered as a mediation for gaps in previous research results. Design/ methodology/approach: The type of research is quantitative, using a pre-existing measurement scale related to mobile service quality, brand image, trust and intention. Involving a sample of 140 BPJS users during the Covid pandemic. It is difficult to identify the population size, the sample size is determined by the formulation of a constant value of 5 multiplied by 28 indicators. The technique of selecting respondents was carried out by means of non-probability random sampling. PLS SEM model as an analysis tool. Findings: The results of this study indicate that the direct relationship of mobile service quality on brand image, trust and intention shows significant positive results. Furthermore, the influence of brand image on trust shows significant results. The influence of brand image and trust on intention is also found to be significantly positive. Practical/implications: although management policies encourage customers to use mobile services more, the public still considers the trustworthy image of BPJS to develop their intention to use mobile application services. The government must remain consistent in ensuring that the quality of mobile service is not compromised because the implications for BPJS image and public trust are at stake. Through the person in charge at BPJS, the government must continue to consistently evaluate and improve the system and educate the public regarding this BPJS health mobile service system. Originality/value: This research offers new insights, filling gaps in studies on national health insurance mobile services during the Covid-19 Pandemic

ABSTRACT

PurposeCOVID-19 and its measures such as physical distancing have shifted consumer payment behaviors toward cashless payment. Physical distancing is likely to remain a norm for some time to come and will be relevant in any future pandemics. This study aims to examine the impact of consumers' perceived value of cashless payment on their use intention in the physical distancing context, with the mediating role of psychological safety and the moderating role of trust propensity.Design/methodology/approachThis study used a survey method to obtain data from 690 consumers in an Asian emerging market, i.e. Vietnam. The data were analyzed using different statistical methods, including structural equation modeling.FindingsResults show that perceived value of cashless payment positively affects use intention, and this effect is mediated by psychological safety. Furthermore, trust propensity has a positive moderating effect on the link between perceived value and psychological safety.Practical implicationsThis study's findings provide implications for retailers and other stakeholders in implementing and promoting cashless payment systems, especially in the physical distancing context.Originality/valueThis study is among the first attempt to explain the relationships between consumers' perceptions, feelings of psychological safety and use intention toward cashless payment in the physical distancing context. The study's findings may also be relevant to any future pandemics.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic has given people much free time. With this, the researchers want to encourage these people to read instead of scrolling through social media. A barrier to reading for many people is not knowing what to read and disinterest in popular books that they would find when they search online. The existing websites that encourage book reading rely on social networking for their recommendations, while the collaborative filtering algorithms applied to books do not exist in the mobile application form. Readwell is a book recommender Android app with a Point-of-Sales System created using Java, Python, and SQLite databases. The information regarding the books was web scraped from the Goodreads website. It aims to apply the more efficient collaborative filtering algorithm to an accessible mobile application that allows users to directly buy the books they are interested in, thus encouraging the reading and buying of books. The researchers created unit test cases to validate the different functionalities of the application. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Post Covid-19 education posed an equally challenging task among teachers and learners. During these times limitation on face-to-face learning and gradual emigration from full online means of instruction had become an issue worth solving. Schools opted to adapt hybrid learning modalities as a means to cope with the learning demands in this era. However, most schools are put on a disadvantage because of the required technologies to support this mode of learning. This research describes an initial design and demonstration of a portable mobile cloud network to support synchronous learning. The system was installed and tested on both a schoolwide and classroom setting. Initial results showed that the proposed system was favorable as an alternative means to hybrid learning. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

By the beginning of 2020, the illness had been named as COVID-19, which had spread due to its extreme severity affecting multiple industries and sectors throughout the world. To protect the public's health and safety, the Philippine government has established a number of quarantine regulations and travel restrictions in reaction to the current COVID-19 outbreak. Nonetheless, the ILO predicted that the pandemic would initially disrupt the economy and labor markets, affecting 11 million employees, or around 25% of the workforce in the Philippines. Therefore, the government continues to urge employers of local companies and enterprises to use alternative work plans, such as a WFH - work-from-home operation in accordance with the established policies. In line with the concept of telework, several studies have already been carried out, though some were declared inconclusive and require additional study. Hence, in this research, a mobile application was created to evaluate the employee's telework capability assessment using a Fuzzy-based model which utilizes Google AppSheet, Apps Script, and Sheets. The developed mobile application is able to provide capacity evaluation utilizing the four key input variables, which are also reasonably characterized for potential telecommuting cost evaluation. © 2022 IEEE.

Due to improvements in information and communication technology and growth of sensor technologies, Internet of Things is now widely used in medical field for optimal resource management and ubiquitous sensing. In hospitals, many IoT devices are linked together via gateways. Importance of gateways in modernization of hospitals cannot be overstated, but their centralized nature exposes them to a variety of security threats, including integrity, certification, and availability. Block chain technology for level monitoring in oxygen cylinders is a scattered record containing the data related to oxygen levels in the cylinder, patient's name, patient's ID number, patient's medical history, and all connected information carried out and distributed among the hospitals (nodes) present in the locality (network). Designing an oxygen level monitoring technique in an oxygen cylinder used as the support system for COVID-19-affected patients is a challenging task. Monitoring the level of oxygen in the cylinders is very important because they are used for saving the lives of the patients suffering from COVID-19. Not only the COVID-19 patients are dependent on this system, but this system will also be helpful for other patients who require oxygen support. The present scenario many COVID-19 hospitalized patients rely upon oxygen supply through oxygen cylinders and manual monitoring of oxygen levels in these cylinders has become a challenging task for the healthcare professionals due to overcrowding. If this level monitoring of oxygen cylinders are automated and developed as a mobile App, it would be of great use to the medical field, saving the lives of the patients who are left unmonitored during this pandemic. This proposal is entitled to develop a system to measure oxygen level using a smartphone App which will send instantaneous values about the level of the oxygen inside the cylinder. Pressure sensors and load cell are fitted to the oxygen cylinders, which will measure the oxygen content inside the cylinder in terms of the pressure and weight. The pressure sensors and load cells are connected to the Arduino board and are programmed to display the actual level of oxygen inside the cylinder in terms of numerical values. A beep sound is generated as an indicator to caution the nurses and attendants of the patients regarding the level of the oxygen inside the cylinder when it is only 15% of the total oxygen level in the cylinder in correlation to the pressure and weight. The signal with respect to the level corresponding to the measured pressure and weight of the cylinder is further transmitted to the monitoring station through Global System for Mobile communication (GSM). Graphical display is used at monitoring end to indicate the level of oxygen inside all oxygen cylinders to facilitate actions like 100% full, 80% full, 60% full, 40% full, 20% full which states that either the oxygen cylinder is in good condition, or requires a replacement of empty cylinders with filled ones in correlation to the pressure and weight being sensed by the sensors. The levels of the oxygen monitored inside the cylinder and other related data can also be stored on a cloud storage which will facilitate the retrieval of the status at any point of time, as when required by the physicians and nurses. These results reported, are valued in monitoring the level of the oxygen cylinder remotely connected to the patients, affected by COVID-19, using a smartphone App. This mobile phone App is an effective tool for investigating the oxygen cylinder level used as a life-support system for COVID-19-affected patients. A virtual model of the partial system is developed using TINKER CAD simulation package. In real time, the sensor data analysis with cloud computing will be deployed to detect and track the level of the oxygen cylinders. © 2023 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

ABSTRACT

PurposeThis study aims to scrutinize the halal trust model by integrating the quality and valence theory in the mobile food purchasing service during the COVID-19 outbreak.Design/methodology/approachThis research uses data from 368 Muslim customers collected via an online survey from Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. This study uses partial least square modelling to appraise the formation of halal trust, including halal food quality, mobile apps quality, perceived benefit and health risk as drivers and loyalty as the consequence.FindingsThe data analysis notes that the combination of perceived quality and valence theory provides a comprehensive understanding of halal trust in mobile halal food purchasing during COVID-19. This study also verifies the crucial role of halal food quality and mobile apps quality in gaining halal trust.Research limitations/implicationsThis study used data from Muslim customers of the greater Bandung, Indonesia. The data limited the generalization of this study's findings. Moreover, this study predicted halal trust by integrating perceived benefit, perceived trust and quality as the predictors, whereas other determinants such as commitment and reputation were not included. Therefore, future researchers can incorporate these issues in their future halal trust research.Practical implicationsTo gain Muslim trust, this study recommends managers whose halal food is sold via mobile apps ensure that their halal food has a quality standard, made of, and processed according to Islamic values. Next, having a high-quality mobile app is also a must.Originality/valueThis study is early research that examines the integration of the quality and valence theory to evaluate halal trust in mobile halal food purchasing during COVID-19.

ABSTRACT

The study focuses on mobile learning at universities, with emphasis on the changes brought by the quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic (the first and the second wave) in which only distance education was possible. The participant sample consisted of Slovak university students (N = 48;age 20–25 in 2020 and N = 45;age 20–25 in 2021). Qualitative design and narrative method were chosen to find out the individuals' experience of concrete events embedded in a socio-cultural context. The data was analyzed using a holistic-content perspective in combination with a thematic analysis. The results showed the key moments linked to the university students' experience in the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic: nostalgia, shock – sudden change, and adaptation. In the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the key moments were: nostalgia, uncertainty, and short-term planning. The important phases for the sustainability of m-learning were related to the comparison between nostalgia, the recovery from the shock after a sudden change in lifestyle, and the adaptation to new living conditions. This was reflected in the key topics focused on the main phases, with an accent on life enjoyment, self-centring, and stress before the COVID-19 pandemic. The paper fulfills the gap in the research focused on understanding students' feelings, attitudes, values, and use of m-learning during forced distance education. Qualitative design research allowed going deeper into students" psychological aspects during national quarantine. The results allow us to prepare the universities and state policies on working with students during future crises and emphasize sustainable mobile learning. PurposeAmid the COVID-19 contamination, people are bound to use contactless FinTech payment services. Because of restrictions on physical movement and avoidance of touching physical money, people willingly choose mobile payment, resulting in enormous growth in FinTech payment service industries. Because of this, this study aims to examine the effect of factors affecting Gen X and Millennials users to use FinTech payment services.Design/methodology/approachThe authors used 328 responses collected through convenience sampling of Indian users aged between 26 and 57 years in the Delhi-NCR region who are users of FinTech payment services.FindingsThe authors' findings verified that in India, perceived COVID-19 risk, perceived severity for COVID, individual mobility, subjective norms, perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness have statistically significant impacts on FinTech payment services during the COVID-19 pandemic. Structural equation modelling was used to study the proposed research model. Overall, the model predicted 76.9 % of the variation in intention to use FinTech payment services by the abovesaid variables by Indian users during a pandemic.Practical implicationsThis study will provide valuable insight to all FinTech service providers and stakeholders in planning and designing the concerned policy. It will be able to draw the attention of users more.Originality/valueThis research added a valuable theory to the existing technology adoption model (TAM) theory. It demonstrated the utility of the above variables in adopting and using FinTech payment services, which will help service providers to develop future strategies because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mobile Financial Services (MFS) has gained significant popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially among marginalized and low-income, low-literate communities around the world. Such communities have not been traditionally considered while designing MFS services via smartphone apps or USSD services in featurephones. Financial constraints limit such end-users towards basic featurephones, where recent appstore support has made it possible to deploy app-based MFS solutions beyond USSD. This new featurephone platform is a relatively underexplored area in terms of addressing design issues related to aforementioned end-users while developing MFS solutions. Our work addresses this gap by presenting qualitative findings on barriers to technology access focused on MFS solutions in marginal communities. We present a prototype non-USSD, app-based solution on an appstore-supported featurephone platform designed via a human-centered approach. This work has the potential to increase the financial inclusivity of marginalized communities in cashless MFS transactions via low-cost, appstore-enabled featurephones. © 2023 ACM.

ABSTRACT

This study discusses the development of the intellectual property (IP) marketplace model based on mobile location-aware computing. Referring to statistics released by the Directorate General of Intellectual Property, there has been a growth in the number of intellectual property rights (IPR) applications in recent years, even during the Covid-19 pandemic. On the other hand, after IPR protection, the commercialization of IPR is one of the pillars of the IP system. Nevertheless, research institutions such as LIPI/BRIN indicate that the potential for commercializing IPR is still low. Furthermore, the opportunity is that cellular networks have covered almost all parts of Indonesia, and there has been significant growth in smartphone users. The method utilized in this research is prototyping. This research results from an IP marketplace model based on mobile location-aware computing in Indonesia. Using the smartphone user's location, contextual IPR information from the user's location related to IPR will enter their smartphone. The experimental results indicate that the application can display a list of IPR information according to the smartphone user's location. Furthermore, the search feature can forage IPR listing information based on user queries. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a surge of interest in research work involving the development of robotic systems that reduce human-to-human interaction, as such a technology can greatly benefit healthcare industries in preventing the spread of highly infectious diseases. An indoor service robot is built and equipped with wheel odometry and a 2D LiDAR. However, the presence of the systematic odometry errors is evident during field testing. Hence, the possibility of minimizing systematic odometry errors is inspected using various methods of calculation, namely: UMBmark, Lee's and Jung's. The methods all use the Bidirectional Square Path test, performed together with ROS. It is found that Jung's method is the most appropriate method showing a 20.4% improvement compared to the uncalibrated dead reckoning accuracy. Moreover, it is found that the presence of slippage, a nonsystematic error, greatly affects the return position errors of the robot. Consequently, it is recommended to improve the design of the wheelbase to minimize the effects of nonsystematic errors. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to investigate the factors influencing the acceptance of mobile learning technology for 21st-century skills-based training among teachers in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. This study adopted the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model, which included constructs such as performance expectancy, effort expectancy, facilitating conditions, social influence, mobile self-efficacy, student self-efficacy, behavioural intention, 21st-century skills-based training, and creative thinking skills. A survey was conducted with 619 teachers from Saudi Arabia and Pakistan who participated in a two-week mobile learning-based training session. The data were analysed using structural equation modeling (SEM). The results show that all hypotheses were supported, indicating a positive relationship between the constructs and the acceptance and use of mobile learning technology for 21st-century skills-based training. This study's findings suggest that by emphasising factors such as performance expectancy, effort expectancy, facilitating conditions, social influence, mobile self-efficacy, and student self-efficacy when designing mobile learning interventions, teachers will be more likely to accept and use mobile learning technology for 21st-century skills-based training and contributed to sustainability by providing increased access to quality education.

ABSTRACT

This paper examines whether destination cards can simultaneously serve tourists' needs and sustainability goals. It provides useful insights for tourism authorities and policymakers in designing a smart tourist card that meets the needs of tourists while preserving and supporting areas' wellbeing. Taking Thessaloniki city as a case study, a tourist survey, designed based on the key features of European destination cards, was implemented to identify needs and motivations. Interesting insight was revealed: tourists want to self-explore the city, are coming with their families, are history-lovers and gastronomy-keen, and are strongly willing to be provided with a destination card offering unlimited access to public transport. The latter reveals an opportunity for the city;the tourists are willing to use sustainable mobility options, which means that a base of sustainable travelling exists. The proposed Thessaloniki smart card can bring together tourists' needs with the city's sustainability goals;the development of tourist packages, including sustainable mobility provisions, walking-talking tours, and bike rentals, should be the backbone of the card. The next challenge for the city is to build a cooperation network to support this smart destination card implementation and promotion.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: InS:PIRE (Intensive Care Syndrome: Promoting Independence and REcovery) is a multidisciplinary programme whose role is to assist patients in the identification of, and subsequent rehabilitation from the sequelae of an admission to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). In NHS Aryshire and Arran (NHSAA) InS:PIRE has traditionally consisted of in-person rehabilitation and support meetings to help manage common post-ICU issues. COVID-19 forced all InS:PIRE activities online, and has required services to redesign their delivery of supporting resources to be readily accessible remotely. Thus, the 'Life after ICU' app was created. Objective(s): The role of this application was to help better-provide accessible information to former ICU patients and their relatives, as well as, improve connectivity between medical professionals and patients. Method(s): The app platform was developed by Piota. Resources were chosen for inclusion through surveying InS:PIRE attendees, who identified their main areas of concern. These areas included: physical problems, emotional issues, social issues, family support, COVID specific support, and physiotherapy. The multidisciplinary InS:PIRE team co-ordinated the identification and collation of the appropriate resources. Additionally, the app serves as a platform for InS:PIRE to disseminate information about the on-going programmes as well as allowing attendees to contact the InS:PIRE team. Result(s): A trial version of the 'Life After ICU' app has now been launched. This app will allow patients and their families to readily access the resources they require. Following a trial period, feedback from app users will be collected and further adaptations made. Conclusion(s): Launching the app recognises the wider view of the importance of eHealth, and its role in modernising service-delivery.
